Hello everyone, I am currently seeking assistance in identifying the most suitable sensor for accurately measuring the level of waste in a garbage bin. I have initially chosen the ultrasonic JSN-SR04T sensor; however, it is exhibiting certain precision issues, Currently, the ultrasonic sensor is facing challenges due to the wide size of the waste bin 🚮 , as it fails to cover certain areas effectively. Moreover, it is experiencing fluctuations in measurement values and demonstrating a slow response.
If anyone has knowledge or suggestions regarding a better sensor option for accurately measuring garbage levels, I would greatly appreciate your input. It’s important to note that we are looking for a solution that does not involve using multiple sensors simultaneously
Go for Lidar man.
Hello,
You can try with HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor but again there is limitation as it covers limited section.
Otherwise you can use weight measurement technique to measure waste into bin.

This precision/ drift issue is inevitable, U hv to to calibrate your sensor according to your range specifications. Also in general Lidars are more precise compared to ultrasonic sensor, modules like TF mini are ok, but if u need something good, explore Lightware Lidars or Terrabee, the are very good, and u can configure variety of parameters.
Also Lidars are not good at detecting reflective, transparent, or dark materials which absorb too much of light
Hi,
I have used MB7389 HRXL-MaxSonar-WRMT for my project. I suggest you to go through the datasheet. Added the product link below:
