Why can't we save the footprints in kicad and How to generate the netlist?
Ok see from where you can start is first understating where the connections are going why don’t you draw this on a paper . I have tried to create an overlay using the picture you provided to understand better you do something same for better understanding.

Ok its pretty easy as its only single layer PCB what you can start with is identifying the controller IC and then just tracing its pins one by one. Using Kicad u can do easily this way https://www.kicad.org/blog/2022/12/Development-Highlight-December-Edition-features-coming-to-KiCad-7/ go to this liRead more

go to this link and navigate to “Background bitmaps in the board and footprint editor”
U2 is your controller IC so start by tracing its pins.
and you will see a video example.

The easiest way to start is identifying the passive components in the circuit like resisors, caps etc. Then start from input power and keep on marking the components which ever is coming through.

Sure can you share the picture of the layout. We can reverse engineer it.

So which version of KiCad you are on in KiCAD 7 they have totally changed how netlist is being handled now you don't need to load the netlist you can manually assign nets in the schematic and it will be saved. Which version you are on?

Hey You can't save the footprint like that but you can copy footprint from one design and paste to another design and then reassign the corresponding schematic symbol for it. If you want to create a new footprint you have to create from the menu and the save it. Let me know what you are trying to doRead more
